georgian oil paint review

There are many different oil paint brands available on the market, each one suited to a specific painting style and budget. So how do you choose the best one for you?

A good starting point is to find out what each brand is known for. Whether it is the pigments used, the lightfast rating or the consistency of the paint itself - these factors will help you decide which brand is the best for you.

Daler Rowney Georgian – These paints are traditionally crafted and triple-milled in England, delivering brilliant colour consistency from wet to dry and ensuring even performance and finish across all colours. They are an excellent choice for artists new to oil painting, or for students on a budget.

Sennelier Rive Gauche – This is another excellent option for beginners or those looking to get more from their first sets of oil paints. They are formulated to speed up drying times, which can be particularly helpful for those struggling with this quality of paint.

Winton – This is probably the most affordable range on the market and a great choice for anyone who wants to learn how to use oil paint. Its price is also very reasonable, and it offers a variety of single pigment colours with good to excellent lightfastness, which will make them perfect for experimenting and mixing with other brands of paint.

Blue Ridge – This is a fairly new oil paint brand that has been making waves recently, causing some serious discussion amongst artists who love the quality of this brand and the value it offers.
