Ground Zero Precision manufactures and markets a wide range of high quality car hi-fi products. Their large surround subwoofers are especially renowned. The German brand with American roots has regularly won comparison-tests in hifi trade magazines. Their products are well-known for their high level of performance, functionality and quality at reasonable prices.
This pistol project aims to hit right at the center of the price and feature spectrum. It starts with a DIY 7.5" barrel kit from GZP that includes a forged upper receiver, parkerized 4140 steel barrel and KEYMOD free-float handguard. An Anderson Manufacturing forged 7075 T6 aluminum lower and Diamondhead USA polymer flip-up sights with NiteBrite illumination complete the build.
This pistol is a Goldilocks find in the sense that it is more affordable than its competitors and also more capable than you might expect. The only things that can beat it are going to cost twice or three times as much and may require custom-ordering. GZP offers dozens of pistol kits in a variety of calibers, barrel lengths and handguard configurations. They are available as Quick Build (QB) kits with assembled uppers for an extra charge or Standard kits that include do-it-yourself uppers. They also offer complete uppers with their NIB-X Nickel Boron coating for an added fee.
