The metallic lip trend continues to make its way around beauty blogs, YouTube and social media. Hard Candy has jumped on the bandwagon with their new Metallic Mousse lipsticks ($6US / $7.99CAN). These are soft, true matte metallic liquid lipsticks that have a dulled shine. They come in a range of pretty colors and they are very comfortable to wear.
The shade I tried is 1052 Show Off a blue-toned red with silver sparkles. This is quite a sheer lipstick but builds up nicely to a nice translucent red. The other shade I tried is 1050 Provocative a cool-tone Barbie pink with silver sparkles. It is more shear than Show Off but still buildable to a nice even coverage.
This lipstick is creamy feeling and the colour is really pretty. I didn’t find it to be as long wearing as the other two because it gets kind of smudgey after a while, especially the centre pink stripe. The packaging is a weird rectangular twist up tube that is more base than product.
The last product I’m going to review is the Hard Candy Glitteratzi Press + Play lipsticks ($5.99US / $6.99CAN). They are billed as a matte lip color that transforms into a glitter finish when you press your lips together. It’s kind of like the Ciate Glitter Flips, but a bit more matte when you first apply it. The glitter shows up well and the lipsticks are hydrating when applied.
