Headphone Reviews
The Audio-Technica ATH-M60x is a new addition to the M series of headphones that aim to be a unique offering. They are a step away from the usual M series design and will appeal to professionals thanks to some studio-centric features that help them stand out in this market.
Sound
The ATH-M60x feature the same 45mm large-aperture drivers found in the venerable M50x and offer wonderful clarity through a wide range of frequencies with impressive bass response. They are a great all-rounder and come in at a fair price for the quality of sound they produce.
Comfort
The on-ear design means they sit very close to the ear, with a high level of isolation and a comfortable fit due to the premium memory foam earpads and headband. They also have an incredibly low profile and are lightweight at 0.44 lbs. They do not collapse and have a detachable cable connection, which is ideal for keeping them plugged in during travel.
Build and Presentation
The M60x do stray from the usual M series design, and they look very premium with a brushed aluminium finish and an embossed logo. Despite the lack of colour they still present well, and will look right at home in a professional studio setting.
Construction and Quality
The M60x are a durable, sturdy pair of headphones that will give you many years of service. They are a good choice for mixing and monitoring in the studio or on the move. They are comfortable, well-built, and offer a great sound for the money.
