Hotpoint has long been a leading name in dishwashers with its range of fully integrated and freestanding machines. The hotpoint ultima hfo 3p23 wl is no different with a 15 place setting capacity across its three racks and simple controls. The control panel comprises four buttons on either side of a central display with clear labelled options. These include main power, a button that scrolls through the nine programmes, the 3D wash options and Turbo high-speed mode. There is also an extra-dry option, tablet mode button and a delay start function with a LED display to let you know how much time remains on the programme.

Loading was trouble-free and the clever clipping systems held dishes firmly in place. A good level of insulation keeps noise to a minimum and the door is solid and balanced for easy opening and closing.

The three baskets can be adjusted up and down to cater for tall items while a removable cutlery tray allows you to use the top rack for larger crockery like platters or serving dishes. The stainless steel finish is a great look and the LED display on the control panel is bright and easy to read with clearly labelled settings, times and progress.

Energy consumption is excellent with the Eco cycle using less than 1.1kWh and 12 litres for a load of soiled dishes. Alternatively, the Auto Normal uses a slightly more modest 1.7kWh and 16 litres. If you need to wash a smaller load then there is the half load option and the machine can even tell you which drawer the dishes are in so they only receive a partial wash for maximum efficiency.
