With its tetherless design allowing for a full VR experience without the need to connect to a computer, the Oculus Quest 2 headset and controllers are powered by batteries. While the controllers have an AA battery system that requires replacement when the batteries run out, the headset itself has a built-in rechargeable battery to allow for longer use.

The battery in the Quest 2 is capable of providing 2-3 hours of run time, depending on the type of content being used. More complex VR games are going to drain the battery more than a video or game that isn't as demanding on the hardware. The headset also supports Google Chromecast screen sharing, which is ideal for using the device with a friend so you can both enjoy VR experiences together on a second display.

If you want to increase the runtime of the Quest 2, it's recommended that you take a look at the Power Settings menu inside of the headset. This is where you'll be able to adjust the Auto-Wake Headset option, which should be turned off in order to conserve more battery life. Additionally, you can also change the Display Power Mode in order to save even more battery.

There are a couple of other things that you can do to help preserve your Oculus Quest 2's battery, such as making sure it doesn't overheat during charging. The simplest way to do this is to simply remove the headset from the charger when it's finished and give it some time to cool down.
