There’s no limit to how many colonists you can have in Rimworld. However, the game can get pretty crowded very quickly, and that’s a problem because every single action in the game requires someone to perform it. That means there’s a lot of people to feed, protect from animals, defend from raiders and mechanoids, research advanced technologies, maintain buildings and much more.
This can be a headache, especially in the early game when everything is so new and confusing. There are so many little things to do and so many different statistics to keep track of that mistakes can easily be made. That’s why having a good strategy in the early stages of the game is very important.
One of the best ways to increase your colonist count is to capture prisoners. These can be found through ancient shrines, quests and even random events. Once captured, the player can choose to take them into their colony by clicking on them. This will give them a chance to join, but there are several conditions that the prisoner will have to meet in order for them to accept.
Aside from that, the player can also create a room for them to sleep in. This should be in a place where they can be protected from the elements and any hostile creatures that may roam the area. The pawns will also want to be comfortable, so making sure that they have a good bed and plenty of food is a great way to make them happy.
