Born on March 16, 1971, Alan Wray Tudyk is an American actor, writer and voice actor who has made a name for himself in the industry. He is best known for his roles as Hoban “Wash” Washburne in the science fiction TV series Firefly and movie Serenity, Alpha in the sci-fi television series Dollhouse, Tucker McGee in the comedy series Tucker & Dale vs Evil, Steve the Pirate in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Wat in A Knight’s Tale and Sonny in I, Robot.
He started his career with a minor role in the film 35 Miles from Normal in 1997 and then appeared in several independent films and short films before making his big-screen debut in 2000 with a part as gay German drug addict Gerhardt opposite Sandra Bullock in the drama movie 28 Days. Following that, he had parts in a number of television shows and movies before landing his first major role as the emotional robot Sonny in the 2005 film I, Robot. He has since appeared in numerous TV shows and movies including The A-Team, Arrested Development and Suburgatory.
He has also been a voice actor on many Disney animated movies including the Ice Age series, Frozen and Wreck-It-Ralph. In addition, he is the creator of the comedy web series Con Man which was loosely based on his experiences touring the convention circuit after Firefly’s cancellation. He currently lives with his wife in Los Angeles, California.
