Discord servers are vibrant communities, but there may come a time when you want to archive a server. Archiving a server enables you to preserve its content and history while restricting new members or further contributions. You can also use third-party tools or bots to automate the process of archiving a server after a specified amount of inactivity.
Alternatively, you can manually conceal any inactive or completed talks by moving them to the Pinned Messages section of the server. This will hide the topic from view for all users, but it will still be available for later review. To find or access the thread, you can use Discord’s Thread Discovery function.
To archive a channel on a discord server, you must first log in to your account and select a server from the list of available servers. Once you have selected a server, navigate to the channel and click on the three-dot menu button in the upper right corner. Then, select "Archive Channel" from the options.
You can archive a discord server from both the Discord app on your mobile device and from the web version of Discord. The only difference is that you can archive a channel from a mobile device by selecting the archiving option in the menu instead of the delete option.
Then, select the archiving option and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. You can choose which members or roles will have access to the channel by checking them off on the next screen. Afterwards, the channel will be archived and won’t appear in the sidebar for anyone who doesn’t have access to it.
