The Apple Watch is a powerful piece of technology that can track your workouts, send text messages, and even pay for items using Apple Pay. But it can also be a distraction with notifications popping up all over the place, especially when you’re trying to focus. Thankfully, the Apple Watch has several ways to reduce these distractions. You can block numbers from recent calls, block unknown callers, and silence phone and FaceTime calls. Plus, you can also filter iMessages from unknown senders and report iMessages that look like spam or junk.
To block a number on your Apple Watch, tap the Digital Crown to open the app screen and then select Messages. Find the conversation with the contact you want to block, then tap on the contact name to view their details. If you see a gray checkmark next to the contact, they’re currently blocked on your Apple Watch.
You can also block a number from your recent calls on the Apple Watch by tapping the Info button next to the contact and then selecting Block this Caller. To block someone from iMessage, open the offending message and then tap on the number at the top of the screen.
If you’ve blocked a number on your Apple Watch, you can unblock them at any time. Just make sure that your iPhone is paired and has the latest version of the watchOS. You can also use Screen Time on your iPhone to limit the amount of time spent on your Apple Watch, and you can set a bedtime for the paired iPhone to keep your child’s device powered off.
