When you’re in a meeting, on the run or just trying to relax, it can be frustrating to get calls and messages from people you don’t want to talk to. Fortunately, you can block unwanted numbers and send unknown callers directly to voicemail.

In this article, we’ll walk you through the different ways to do so on your apple watch. We’ll also provide tips on how to block a specific contact from the iPhone and report spam or scam text messages to Apple and your carrier.

To prevent unwanted calls, you can configure your iPhone to automatically decline or send those types of calls straight to voicemail. To do so, go to Settings > Notifications > Calls. Then, choose an option from the following list:

You can also disable notifications for specific contacts by using a special Do Not Disturb mode. You can enable this mode by going to your iPhone’s Settings app, then tapping Phone or Messages (depending on where you’re blocking calls). Next, select the contact whose notifications you want to disable and tap Do Not Disturb.

You can also enable the Silence Unknown Callers feature on your iPhone, which will silence calls from numbers not saved in your contacts, or from numbers that your carrier identifies as potential spam or fraud. This is a great way to reduce the number of calls you receive on your iPhone and on your Apple Watch.
