When you participate in a video call, it’s important that your background looks clean and professional. The background blur feature in teams allows you to reduce visual distractions, protect sensitive or personal information, maintain a polished appearance, and highlight the speaker. Using this feature requires understanding the system requirements and best practices for using it correctly.
To use the blur background feature in teams, you must have hardware that supports it. The effect requires advanced graphics processing called AVX. If your computer doesn’t have AVX, you can still use other video filters that affect only the image of your face. Your company may also enforce a policy that disables blur or other background features.
If your system meets the system requirements for using blur background in teams, you can use the feature during a video call or meeting. To enable it, click the More actions icon in the bottom toolbar and select Show background effects. Teams displays a range of built-in backgrounds, and you can adjust the strength of the blur effect by sliding the bar. Click Apply when you’re satisfied with the results.
If you’re using a mobile phone, you can blur your background in teams before or during a call. To do this, open the Teams app and select a team meeting link that you’ll join. Then tap the three dots at the bottom of the screen and select Background options to see the list of available filters.
