Cash App is a mobile wallet application that offers users a convenient way to send and receive money, make online and in-person payments, invest in stocks and cryptocurrency, and more. The service, which is owned by Block (the fintech company formerly known as Square), competes with major players like Venmo and PayPal for peer-to-peer payment functionality. While Cash App has many great features, there may come a time when you need to cancel a payment. Whether you accidentally sent money to the wrong person or need to correct an incorrect payment amount, this article will walk you through how to cancel a cash app payment and offer helpful tips to prevent future problems.
Cancelling a Cash App payment is simple and easy, provided that the payment is still in a pending status. To cancel a payment, open the Cash App and tap the ellipsis "..." in the upper-right corner of the screen. From here, you will be able to view your Activity feed and locate the pending payment that you wish to cancel.
Once you have located the pending payment, tap on it to view additional information about the transaction. If the payment is still displaying a cancel option, select that option to cancel the transaction and request a refund from the recipient of the funds.
Keep in mind that Cash App is continually monitoring all transactions on the platform to look for suspicious activity and protect user's funds. If the Cash App team finds that a transaction on your account is suspicious, they will notify you via email and will attempt to recover the funds for you.
