Twitter allows users to communicate privately with each other via direct messages (DMs). These DMs are not displayed in your public timeline, and only you and the person you sent the message to can see them. If you send a DM that you later regret, one of your first thoughts might be to delete it from both sides. Unfortunately, this is not possible.
To delete a DM, log into your Twitter account and go to the Messages tab. Select the DM that you want to delete and click the “Delete for you” button. The message will be deleted from your Twitter inbox, but it will still be in the recipient’s inbox until they delete it themselves.
Alternatively, you can also use a tool that lets you view all of your Twitter DMs and delete them all at once. These tools are called DM deleters, and they are available from various online services. The only downside to using a DM deleter is that it might be easier for hackers to retrieve your DMs this way.
In order to delete a DM from both sides, you must block the person that you sent it to. This will delete all DMs between you and the person that you blocked. In addition, it will prevent the person from seeing any other messages that you have sent them. This is the best way to make sure that you don’t accidentally send a message that you don’t mean to.
