TikTok is one of today’s most popular social media platforms. Its short-form videos allow users to showcase their unique talents and experiences in a fun, engaging way. With more than 1 billion active users, it’s also a platform for influencers to promote their products and reach a wide audience base.

Voiceovers are an integral part of any TikTok video, adding a personal touch and sense of authenticity. Whether a creator is narrating their day-to-day activities, providing commentary on a trending meme, or delivering step-by-step instructions for a DIY project, the use of a well-executed voiceover can elevate any video and captivate viewers.

To add a voiceover to your video, first you need to create or upload a video clip. Next, expand the editing menu situated on the right-hand side of the screen, and click the icon that resembles a microphone – this is the ‘Voiceover’ tool.

Once in the ‘Voiceover’ tab, your video will be displayed at the top with an editing timeline underneath. Drag the white marker to indicate where you would like your voiceover to start. Then, tap or long-press the 'Record' button to begin recording your TikTok voiceover.

Once you have finished recording your voiceover, the video preview will play to check that it lines up properly with your footage. If you are happy with the results, tap 'Save' to save your voiceover. TikTok will then mute the original sound of your video and replace it with your recorded voiceover. Finally, you can edit your video as you normally would, including adding a title and relevant tags, before hitting 'Next' to publish.
