How to Evolve Cosmom During the Day in Pokemon GO

If you’ve been tackling Niantic’s latest season of Pokemon GO, you’ll have noticed that one specific Legendary Pokemon can be evolved into two different forms depending on the time of day you evolve it. This is a bit of an oddity since most Pokemon evolutions only have one outcome, but there are specific conditions that must be met in order to get Cosmog to evolve into either Solgaleo or Lunala.

First, you’ll need to acquire a Cosmog and reach Steps 5 through 8 of the Cosmic Companion Special Research. Once you do, you’ll have enough candy to trigger Cosmog’s evolution into Solgaleo or Lunala, depending on what version of the game you’re playing in.

The process is relatively simple. You’ll need 100 Cosmog Candies and you’ll need to perform the evolution during the day. The specific time of day will depend on your local time zone, and you can check the current daylight hours in the main menu of Pokemon GO by tapping the Poke Ball icon and selecting “Pokemon storage.”

Evolving Cosmog into Solgaleo is a good choice because it will add a strong Psychic attacker to your roster with its impressive damage output and defenses. It will also provide some much-needed diversity to your moveset as it has total immunity to Poison and a variety of other move types. Similarly, Lunala is a decent addition to your team, but its lack of offensive potential keeps it from being as effective in the higher leagues as Solgaleo is at this stage.
