How to Evolve Inkay in Pokemon Go

Evolving Pokemon is one of the core mechanics that keeps Pokemon Go interesting. Whether it’s making them buddies to unlock certain abilities or feeding them candies to earn their next level, evolution is a big part of the game that trainers love to partake in. Fortunately, Niantic has made sure to keep evolving Pokemon in Pokemon Go as interesting as possible with some unique methods. The Kalos region squid, Inkay, is one of these Pokemon with a pretty odd evolution method. If you happen to catch this squid as it spawns in the wild, as a low-tier raid boss, or as a reward for event-exclusive Field Research, then you’ll be eager to know how to evolve Inkay into Malamar.

The good news is that, as long as you have 50 Inkay candy (which should be a breeze to collect) and the little squid is at least Level 30, you can just click on the evolve button in the bottom-right corner of your screen to trigger the process. It will also require you to hold your device upside down, which is a nod to the original X and Y games where players had to physically turn their Nintendo 3DS systems to get their evolutions.

Hopefully, this will make it easier for trainers to evolve Inkay into Malamar and give this little squid an extra boost in combat against the game’s top-tier monsters. Until then, good luck trainers and happy hunting!
