How to Evolve Qwilfish in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Qwilfish is a versatile Pokemon that works well in competitive battling. It has solid defenses bolstered by Intimidate, and its moves like Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Thunder Wave provide utility in battle. Moreover, it can easily fill the support role with its semi-reliable recovery ability in Pain Split. Plus, its Dark and Poison typing makes it a suitable counter to many of the threatening Pokemon in the UU tier, such as Entei, Mienshao, and Heracross.

But despite its solid stats, Qwilfish isn’t an easy Pokemon to acquire. In the past, players had to go through a lengthy process in order to evolve it into Hisuian Qwilfish, which was only available during the Hisuian Discoveries event. However, with the release of the Indigo Disk DLC, hisuian qwilfish evolution has become much easier to achieve in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

To evolve qwilfish into hisuian qwilfish, trainers must first catch one of its higher levels and make sure it knows the move Barb Barrage. This can be done by checking the Pokemon’s Summary page, and pressing X to check its current moves. Ensure that it knows the move, and if not, then trainers should use the Remember Moves function in the Pokemon’s Settings menu to find Barb Barrage and replace an existing one. Once the Hisuian qwilfish is at a high enough level, it can be evolved into its stronger form by gaining Candy. Candy can be earned by catching it, hatching its eggs, walking it as your Buddy, or completing relevant field research.
