How to Half Swipe on Instagram

Instagram is a popular social platform allowing users to connect with others through posts, stories and reels, and messages. However, there are times when you may want to view certain content without the sender or creator knowing. Fortunately, there are some hidden features that enable you to do just that. One such feature is the “half swipe” on instagram, a trick that allows you to partially view a story or message without triggering read receipts.

To use the half-swipe feature on instagram, first open the Instagram app and ensure that you’re logged in. Then, access your Stories by swiping right or tapping your profile picture at the top of the screen. Next, tap the story you wish to view and tap ‘Half Swipe’ in the bottom-left corner of the preview. This will allow you to view the story without triggering the read receipt, which is useful if you want to privately preview a Story or skip through stories quickly.

To view a message on Instagram, first tap the DM icon at the top of the screen and select the conversation you want to read discreetly. Then, swiftly swipe up before the message fully loads to avoid triggering the “seen” status. Once you have read the message, slowly scroll down the conversation to prevent the sender from noticing that you’ve already viewed their message. This trick works for both DMs and Instagram stories, but it’s a bit more limited for DMs as you won’t be able to view the video thumbnail of the story.
