Whether your kids are reading Kindle ebooks, playing games, or surfing the web on an Amazon Fire tablet (formerly known as a Kindle Fire), you can control what they see and do with a variety of parental controls. These features prevent children from purchasing items without your approval, and help you set a curfew to limit screen time. You can also password-protect content and keep the device from going to sleep with a 'Stay Awake' mode.
If you're having trouble with your tablet, try restarting it. If that doesn't fix the problem, you may need to hard reset it. To perform a hard reset, power off your tablet and hold the power button and volume up button simultaneously. Continue holding these buttons until your tablet displays the Android OS recovery menu.
When you're ready to reset your device, select 'wipe data/factory reset'. This will reset your tablet to its original factory settings and wipe all of the apps, music, video, photos, and other files on it. Your device will reboot and display the setup screen again, where you can begin setting it up.
If you haven't already, link your tablet to your Amazon account. This will give you access to a Parental Dashboard that allows you to track your child's activity on their tablet. You can view at-a-glance reports of the time they spend on Books, Movies & TV, Games, Apps & Websites, and more. You can even set daily goals and time limits for their device usage.
