Whether you’re a student trying to study while listening to educational videos, or a music lover who wants to listen to their favorite songs while reading emails, there are times when you need to minimize YouTube on iphone. This can be frustrating, especially if you’re using an older version of the app that doesn’t support Picture-in-Picture mode or multitasking. However, it’s possible to play YouTube videos in the background on your iPhone, allowing you to continue working and browsing other apps without missing any important content.

Since 2018, YouTube has supported a Picture in Picture mode that allows you to watch videos in a miniature window even after leaving the app. This feature was previously only available for YouTube Premium subscribers, but it has now been extended to all users in the US. To enable the Picture in Picture feature, open the YouTube app and tap your profile picture at the top right. From here, you’ll see the accounts that have been added to your device and which one is currently being used for YouTube. If the account you’re watching with isn’t Premium, tap the icon at the bottom of the screen to switch accounts.

After that, simply swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone or press the home button to leave the YouTube app. Your video will remain in the mini-player, and you’ll be able to move it around and adjust the size of the player as needed.
