The PS5 DualSense controller is a top-of-the-line controller with some great features, including space-age adaptive triggers, a bigger trackpad and haptics system, USB-C charging, and more. But like any other controller, it can experience issues from time to time that require some serious troubleshooting. That’s why it’s important to keep it properly maintained and cleaned so that it continues to run smoothly. To do this, disassembling the controller is essential. This article will walk you through the process of disassembling a ps5 controller, including removing and cleaning the various parts.

Before beginning, make sure that the controller is turned off and unpaired with the console to avoid any accidental activations during the disassembly process. Next, set aside any accessories or other items that you don’t want to use during the repair. You’ll also need a screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the controller together. The first step is to take out the screw at the bottom of each grip using a 2.0mm by 40mm screwdriver. Gently separate the grip, being careful not to remove it entirely.

Once the grips are separated, you’ll see four more screws that secure the two halves of the controller together. You can remove them with a Phillips screwdriver.

Using a plastic pry tool, slowly wedge the panels apart. You’ll need to be careful as the panels are connected with ribbon cables inside. Once you’ve removed the screws, you can begin to remove the other bits of the controller.
