Many TikTok users like to add visual effects to their videos, but some users are running into an even weirder issue: their front camera is taking inverted or upside down photos. Luckily, there are a few different ways to fix this issue.
Most of us are used to seeing ourselves in the mirror, and our reflections in that glass often appear symmetrical. However, when we are taken on camera, we tend to look somewhat asymmetrical due to lighting and the angle of the lens. Ultimately, both our mirror and camera reflections can be accurate representations of our appearance, but it is up to each person to decide which one they prefer.
If you want to avoid asymmetrical reflections, then you can use an effect that flips your view on the app's camera preview screen. This can be found in the TikTok app's "Effects" tab, which is just left of the record button. Simply tap the Inverted effect, which is represented by two horizontal arrows pointing in opposite directions.
Inverting the camera's preview is also possible in other apps, such as FaceTime, which is a popular video-chatting application on the iPhone and iPad. Some of us may find that our faces are asymmetrical in FaceTime, so we can choose to invert the camera's view for more accuracy in this scenario. Alternatively, some of us may choose to just switch the app to a landscape view instead. This will also help reduce asymmetrical reflections.
