In order to use bereal without a phone number you will need to have the latest version of the app on your device. Once you have it you will need to enter your name, date of birth and phone number to login. Once you have all of that information ready you will get a code sent to your phone number. This is the normal process for logging into any app that needs to verify your identity.
Once you are logged in you will see a discovery feed of other bereal users posts. You will be able to interact with the other users by commenting on their pictures and using RealMojis. You will also be able to view their private BeReal and share your own if you want.
Bereal is different from other social media platforms like Snapchat and Instagram because it encourages people to be their authentic self. Instead of filters and other effects that can alter a picture BeReal focuses on making a photo a more authentic version of yourself by capturing both the front and back camera.
Each day you will receive a notification when it is time to capture your BeReal. You can then launch the camera and start a two minute countdown to take your BeReal. If you miss your BeReal notification it will show up in your Discovery feed letting other users know that you were late to post.
The BeReal terms of service recommend reporting photos that include sexual content, are pornographic, or depict hate speech, extremism, violence or suicide. In addition, you can report photos if they are not in the correct location or contain inappropriate language.
