The hp 15-eg1053cl is a decent entry-level laptop that isn't quite as powerful as some of its rivals. However, its a solid piece of kit that's well built and priced competitively.
Powerful and portable
If you're looking for a powerful laptop that can handle heavy work or media-heavy tasks without breaking the bank, this is worth considering. It's got a strong performance score in PCMark 10 and Geekbench 5 multi-core tests, and isn't prone to lag when you're using it for more intensive work.
It's also a reasonably light machine at just 1.75kg, so it won't be too hard to carry around campus or to and from college. Its port selection is good too, with two high-speed USB-As, a Thunderbolt 4/Type-C, HDMI-out and a headphone jack, plus a micro-SD card slot.
Battery life isn't bad either. When playing back a full HD YouTube video, I was able to get about 4 hours of use out of the laptop with its brightness at maximum. When reducing the brightness to 50%, I was able to get around 6 hours.
While the HP 15-eg1053cl doesn't match up to the likes of the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 or Microsoft Surface Go in battery life, it's still a capable machine that should easily last a working day. And while its display is a little dim, it's certainly better than some of the competition.
