If you’re looking for a new business notebook, the hp elitebook 850 g4 is one of the best options around. It offers a wide range of features for mobile professionals and comes with comprehensive security measures.
Whether you’re working in the office or on the go, the 850 g4 offers reliable performance for everyday tasks and long battery life. It’s also equipped with a number of security features, such as TPM, a Kensington lock and a fingerprint reader.
Its power consumption is also very impressive, especially for a laptop in this price range. This can be attributed to the fact that it sports a TN panel, which is usually more power-efficient than IPS panels.
This doesn’t mean, however, that the 850 g4 is necessarily a good choice for watching videos or browsing the web on the go, as this panel’s sRGB coverage is very narrow and its contrast ratio is quite low. It’s also worth noting that it does struggle to reach high brightness levels.
While this shouldn’t be a major issue for most users, it can lead to frustration when running on battery. That’s because the CPU and GPU’s clock speeds are reduced when running on battery, which can result in lower Cinebench scores.
This can be addressed by enabling the “Enable Turbo Boost on DC” option in the BIOS. Additionally, the laptop’s GPU can be overclocked in order to increase its performance. This is a nice touch and it’s something we would have loved to see HP implement.
