About the hp pavilion 17-g119dx review
The HP Pavilion is one of the most popular entry-level laptops for students. They've been around for decades and come in a wide variety of configurations, all at a very reasonable price.
This year's refresh doesn't keep the basics the same and borrows a lot of design elements from the company's higher-end Envy line, which means a more premium feel and look for the machine. At the same time, HP has made the Pavilion more compact and slimmer.
Display
This laptop features a 17.3-inch display with a HD+ resolution. The panel delivers a good, vibrant image with wide sRGB color coverage and an excellent 178° viewing angle.
Touchscreen
The touch screen is responsive to input and offers smooth navigation between web browsers, apps, and media files. It also has good response times and supports a variety of touch gestures.
Performance
This machine is powered by an AMD A4-6210 processor with 4 cores and 2 MB of cache. While it's not the fastest of AMD's newer processors, it still clocked a pretty good 1.8 GHz when we ran our tests.
Battery Life
The 41 Wh Li-Ion battery should last for a decent 7 hours at a minimum. This is not the longest battery life we've seen in a portable notebook but it should be enough to get you through a day on a single charge.
The Pavilion is a solid, reliable machine that will serve you well for years to come. Its flexible configuration options and tough build make it a great choice for students and casual users alike, though we're not fans of HP's glossy black piano lacquer that makes the laptop more prone to fingerprint smudges.
