Kiriko, the newest Support hero to hit Overwatch 2, is a young warrior who was raised by her grandmother and mother. Both taught her the traditional way to care for the Fox Spirit Sanctuary as well as how to defend herself as a ninja, and she decided to use both to forge her own path.
She is one of the youngest characters in the Overwatch roster, and she shows this with her playful energy on the field. She jokes with her teammates and will redirect any disrespect or sass that they throw her way.
But she also has a strong moral compass, which is reflected in her ability to fight for what's right. Her youthful energy is a nice counterpoint to the older heroes on the team, and it makes her a great hero to play when you want a more fun and lighter experience.
Kiriko was born in Kanezaka, one of the Overwatch map's locations, and her family has been there for generations as protectors of the city. Her grandmother and her mother are both fierce ninja who trained the Shimada brothers, Genji and Hanzo, which is why she knows how to use their style of combat as well as how to invoke the Fox Spirit.
In her backstory, she says that she was around 20 when she went to strike back against the Hashimoto clan. This is important because it puts her in the same age range as the Shimada brothers. However, the issue with this is that Genji and Hanzo are currently listed as being 35 and 40, respectively. This means that if Kiriko was at the same age as they were when she was training them, then they could never have been childhood friends.
