The Larabar brand is best known for their eponymous fruit and nut bars, which are gluten-free, non-GMO, dairy-free, and kosher. But the company also offers Larabar Bites, which are healthier bite-sized versions of their classic fruit and nut bar flavors.

The bite-sized version of the classic Larabar fruit and nut bars are made with the same simple ingredients as the full-size bars. The base consists of dates, almonds, and fair-trade chocolate chips, with flavor-specific additions in some cases. The bites are also dusted with a little bit of coconut flour to keep them from sticking together. Depending on the flavor, a single bite can contain up to 220 calories.

Dates make up the majority of the bites’ carbohydrate content, with walnuts and almonds providing healthy fats and a texture that is chewy and soft. The bites are not overly sweet, which allows you to taste each individual ingredient and provides a balanced snack experience. Unlike the regular Larabars, which are gluten-free, the bites do not contain any added sugar.

The bites are a good source of carbohydrates, and some offer a small amount of protein as well. They are therefore a good option for athletes needing energy during a workout. However, the high carbohydrate content of the bites may cause adverse gastrointestinal symptoms in some people. If this is a concern, athletes should avoid the bites before exercising or test them for tolerance to them. In addition, the bites’ natural fruit and nuts may have a laxative effect on some people, so they are not recommended for use before competition.
