larceny small batch bourbon review

If you’re new to bourbon or want to introduce someone to it, Larceny is an easy to drink, affordable option. It is not too harsh at 92 proof and can be enjoyed with or without ice. Larceny is made at the Heaven Hill Bernheim distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. It has a soft, sweet scent that gives off hints of sugarcane and orange. On the palate, you can taste a variety of fruity notes including peach and apricot. It also has a light and smooth finish.

Larceny is a wheated bourbon whiskey that was first released in 2012 by Heaven Hill Brands. It is a blend of selected barrels that were made in honor of a legend from the past named John E. Fitzgerald. According to the official story from the company, Fitzgerald was a bonded US Treasury agent who used his access to the warehouse (rickhouse) where Pappy Van Winkle and other high-end bourbons were stored and aged to steal samples from the best of them to make a personal selection of his own.

This story has a bit of a tall tale feel to it but the bourbon itself is quite good and reasonably priced. The bourbon has a light bite to it at 92 proof but it doesn’t take long for the heat to subside and you are left with a simple taste of corn, wheat and caramel with a touch of wood, pepper and some fruit.
