LG 43UH6100 reviews and tests
This 42in TV is a very pleasant surprise when it comes to picture quality. It has a fantastic greyscale and colour performance, which could have made it one of the best LCD TVs on the market. However, a flawed and undefeatable video processing algorithm seriously taints what could have been an excellent TV.
Fortunately much of this unwanted processing can be shut off by convincing the TV that an input signal is from a computer (probably because the algorithms in question would eat into the fine lines and icons on a computer screen and make them unusable). This requires labelling the input as "PC" within the TV's menus, which may not always be feasible or convenient.
The UH6100's other big plus point is its high-quality motion smoothing system, which really does reduce the blurring and judder that LCD TVs are famous for. It's not as smooth as Philips' HD Natural Motion or Sony's 200Hz, but it is still a very effective system.
The UH6100 is a Smart TV, meaning that it can display internet content and apps such as YouTube. It also supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) movies, which deliver more detail and richer colours for a cinematic viewing experience. It has a common refresh rate of 120 Hz, which ensures that the image on the screen is updated 120 times per second. This delivers very smooth motion for video content such as movies and sports events.
