The event is held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Times Square and is one of the most prominent anime conventions to hit the city of New York. The event is hosted by SPJA and the organizers have high hopes for the event to become one of the largest, most successful conventions to ever hit ‘The Big Apple’.
The conference is an anime convention that focuses on all aspects of Japanese pop culture, including manga, music, video games, art, and more. It features several panels that discuss a variety of topics, from cosplay to music to diversity. Various artists and creators from Japan attend the convention to present their works and speak about them with fans.
This year, the convention has some big names appearing on the guest list, including musicians Reni Mimura, TiA, kohei, 2UNE, and Lia (and her Vocaloid unit IA). They’ll be joined by Jun Sugawara, Shingo Yamashita, and Shintarou Douge. Douge has worked on many different anime, including Fullmetal Alchemist, The Twin Star Exorcists, Corpse Princess, Le Chevalier D’Eon, Birdy the Mighty Decode:02, and more.
Cyberpunk 2077 has had a lot of great moments and writing that got buried under technical issues and odd design choices, but the past year has shown a strong commitment to fixing those problems by CD Projekt Red. The upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion feels like the last piece that could turn the game into something truly special, and after spending an hour or two with both the demo and the developers, I’m very hopeful that it will be a success.
