liberty evolv 90 review

A new addition to Liberty's "evolv" series of skis, the evolv 90 is designed for those who want a combination of precision and versatility from a frontside-oriented, directional-shaped ski. It's positioned between Liberty's V and Origin lines, which are more dedicated on-piste carvers.

The evolv 90 features the brand's signature combination of poplar and bamboo core, combined with Liberty's VMT 3.0(r) construction that includes 3 vertical metal struts centered along the length of the ski. These struts add stability and strength without adding weight.

This construction also creates a very stiff and damp ski, making the evolv 90 extremely responsive and quick to turn. It also delivers excellent edge grip in variable snow conditions.

A good choice for strong intermediate and advanced skiers, the evolv 90 has a lot of power and energy, yet is also very easy to control and manage on-piste. It's a great daily driver for those who enjoy charging groomers and exploring off-piste terrain.

90mm wide, it has the width and flex profile to handle a variety of snow and terrain conditions. Its directional shape provides excellent control when railing turns and ripping through bumps, but it's not a deep powder performer and tends to get washy in deeper or heavier snow.

Liberty's VMT 3.0(r) core combines the natural light and livliness of their signature combination of poplar and bamboo with the inherent power and stability of aluminum alloy. This core is then reinforced by strategically placing metal struts toward the outside of the core and precured carbon fiber strips to add extra stability and strength.
