MapMyFitness has made a name for itself as one of the go-to apps for tracking workouts with your smartphone or input from a wearable activity tracker. Now, the app is working with EB Sports Group to promote a new fitness device that doubles as a watch: the $130 Sync Burn, which syncs with your iPhone via Bluetooth and can track your daily activity.
A button below the Sync Burn's display doubles as a heart-rate sensor; hold down the button and it will show your current reading for a few seconds. It's an easy-to-use feature, but not as convenient as those found on the Mio Alpha and Withings Pulse, both of which have a touch-screen display and automatically read your heart rate whenever they're in contact with your skin.
The Sync Burn also tracks your daily movement and shows how active you were on an hourly basis or weekly, as well as your total steps, distance and calories burned. It has a battery life of up to a year, and can double as a regular watch when not paired with your smartphone.
