Mystic's new Reaper X builds on the last generation and adds both blank and hardware refinements. The result is a very responsive fly rod that rewards a delicate touch while providing plenty of backbone for moderate winds and mid-sized streamers.

Mystic is a small organization that assembles all of their rods in Michigan by a team of dedicated employees. They pay attention to detail and stand behind their products with a generous warranty. These are quality rods that represent exceptional value.

The M-Series is Mystic's flag ship freshwater rod line that has built their reputation on high performing, well-balanced rods at an amazing value. They feature buttery-smooth, balanced blanks with uniform spines and premium grade hardware and cork. This combination would normally push a rod in this class into the $650 range, but Mystic has managed to keep the price below that.

This is a true "tip-flex" fast action fly rod. It loads very quickly and is very specific in the tip, but it still has a lot of power through the middle and lower sections. It is a great rod for nymphing and dries.

The new Reaper X is a very handsome rod. The dark burgundy finish has a subtle sheen that shimmers in the light and the quad grade cork handle feels great in the hand. The aluminum reel seat has a modern, aluminum skeletal look to it and is saltwater safe. The rod comes in a handsome fabric-covered rod tube. It has stainless steel snake guides and a titanium stripping guide that is also salt-safe. The fit and finish are excellent and the rod weighs a very comfortable 6 1/2 ounces.
