nordictrack cx998 review

The CX 998 is a mid-range elliptical from NordicTrack that was discontinued in early 2011. It features an 18-inch power-adjustable stride, 24 resistance levels, a 0- to 20-degree incline and 35 trainer-designed workouts. It also includes a cooling fan, built-in handgrip heart-rate monitor and iFIT fitness tracking. Its unique Carb Counter feature displays your workout in terms of carbohydrates burned instead of the typical calories burned.

Like other NordicTrack ellipticals, the CX 998 has moving handlebars for a upper body workout. Its "1 Step" workout controls allow you to adjust the intensity of your workout with a single button. The machine is backed by a 10-year warranty for the frame, 2 years for parts and 1 year for labor.

The CX 998 weighs 325 lbs, which is significantly heavier than newer NordicTrack ellipticals. However, the website Fitness Equipment Reviews cautions that NordicTrack often overstates its elliptical weight capacities. The current NordicTrack front drive ellipticals that share the CX 998's basic design include the Commercial 9.9 and the E7.1 and Audiostrider 990. The Commercial 9.9 is lighter than the CX 998 and has 4 fewer resistance levels and a smaller touchscreen. The E7.1 and Audiostrider 990 each have a maximum user capacity of 250 lbs.
