orangewood oliver jr review

Whether you’re looking for an acoustic bass guitar to play around the house or a travel-friendly alternative to your P-Bass, this Orangewood Oliver Jr might be just what you need. Modeled after their Oliver guitar, one of their most popular models, the Oliver Jr bass is a solid-top mini bass that delivers the same bold, bright tone in a smaller, easier to take anywhere shape.

The layered mahogany back and sides are joined by an Ovangkol fretboard and bridge. The solid mahogany top maximizes resonance and pairs with a natural satin finish. Each guitar comes strung with Ernie Ball Earthwood acoustic bass strings and ships with a premium gig bag.

This bass is a fun little guitar that is very comfortable to hold and play. It sounds great plugged in as well. It can sound almost electric at full volume and treble, but when you roll down the controls it sounds like a smooth, mellow acoustic bass. It’s definitely not a replacement for your regular bass, but it is a lot of fun to play on the couch or while traveling.

Orangewood is a relative newcomer to the guitar world, first launched in 2018, but they’ve quickly made a name for themselves with their affordable acoustic models. They’re still a relatively small company, but they’ve got a huge range of different styles on offer and right now they’re running a Black Friday sale (opens in new tab). This includes their solid-top mini Oliver Jr and the classic dreadnought Echo, both of which are on offer at 20% off.
