Italian heritage football brand Pantofola d’Oro have released the second generation of their lightweight Superleggera football boots. The Superleggera 2.0 are the latest version of the boot that was first launched in December 2017 and feature kangaroo leather to provide both sublime touch and a lightweight feel.
The boots have a strong connection to the company’s proud heritage of footballing roots and this is evident in the pink side stripe, heel tab and bouncing ball logo that appear across the model. In addition to this, the kangaroo leather has been treated with gold applications and details to add to the luxurious appeal of the boot.
A calf skin upper provides a fantastic fit and a soft touch, while the stitching along the vamp helps to keep the leather from stretching too much. The sole-plate is your standard conical stud configuration, and while they won’t win any traction races it will be fine for quick cuts and twisting and turning around opponents.
The story goes that the company was founded in 1886 in Ascoli Piceno, Italy and originally called “Calzaturificio Lazzarini”. The family owned business was headed by Emidio Lazzarini who had spent his life trying out a series of professions including a wrestler and a billiard player before taking over the family shoemaker business. Emidio Lazzarini’s passion for footwear and his commitment to craftsmanship created a new standard in Made in Italy shoes that for decades nobody could match, earning the company its name – Pantofola d’Oro (Golden Slipper). It is a name that still stands today.
