Perfect Crime Review

An enthralling collection of 22 enthralling and diverse crime-mystery-thriller short stories. Each story takes the reader through an intricate web of tangled plots, twists and turns that are both compelling and entertaining. It is a rare treat when you find an anthology that delivers a collection of pieces that are uniformly of such high quality.

A must for fans of all things crime and thrillers, this is the kind of anthology that you could sit down with a glass of wine and read in one sitting. This collection of short stories will keep you on the edge of your seat as you try to figure out what is really going on, who is behind all the various twists and turns.

Originally presented at the Courtyard Playhouse, the original incarnation of Perfect Crime was a smash hit in 1987. Featuring Catherine Russell as the psychiatrist who seems to have killed her husband (until he shows up very much alive) and the detective who falls in love with her, this funny, romantic thriller leaves you guessing until the last gunshot.

This production of the classic play has been tweaked here and there to bring it up to date, but it still retains a very old-fashioned feel. Shoberg, best known as Tom Cuddahy on All My Children, is appealingly low-key as the handsome flatfoot; he underplays his part and at times could stand to pump up the volume. George McDaniel, as the nutty patient with a penchant for ladies' clothes, is also a standout.
