REI Trailbreak 60 Review

REI makes really good gear, and this pack is no exception. It's made of ripstop nylon that meets Bluesign Criteria, which means it was produced in a sustainable way and helps REI meet its commitment to the environment.

Comfort is a priority for a backpack, and the Trailbreak 60 doesn't disappoint. The shoulder straps and back are padded with high-quality foam to help keep you comfortable as you hike. The hip belt pockets are great for storing trail bars, energy packs, chapstick, and even a smartphone.

Torso length adjustability is a key feature that helps the pack fit well, and REI did an excellent job making this adjustment simple and intuitive. They designed the pack to fit men's torsos from 17-21 inches, and women's from 15-19 inches.

The torso adjustment is very helpful for those with wide shoulders or low backs, and it allows you to get the pack fitted to your exact measurements. You can also adjust the hip belt to a more comfortable position for your body type.

A large interior storage compartment is a plus, as is the top lid, which can be used as a day pack or converted to a sleeping bag access zipper when you're ready to go home. The exterior stuff pocket isn't mesh, but it's still big enough to hold a few items and secure them at a moment's notice.

REI's budget-friendly line is a great place to start if you're new to backpacking, or just want a lightweight pack that doesn't break the bank. They offer one of the best return policies in the business, so you can give it a try and decide if it's right for you.
