Review Girl Honestly Sincere
Review
In Liza Birkenmeier’s edgy new play review girl honestly sincere we follow 13 year old Greta Hemberger who is using her mother’s cell phone to call someone. Her teen years are explored through a series of intimate calls made from within the repurposed closet in Joshua William Gelb’s New York apartment. It is a playful, feminist play that tackles themes of sexuality, body image and social media culture with a multi-dimensional perspective. It’s a refreshing antidote to the recent trend of feminist narratives being primed by men who use easy, binary representations for women.
This is a very well written, funny play that is worth watching. If you love feminist, rom-coms then this is a must see! The cast is wonderful and they all have a unique voice to their characters.
