Sixty Review
To celebrate master blender and brand owner Rocky Patel’s 60th birthday, Rocky created a limited edition series of three luxurious sizes – the RP 60 Toro, the RP 60 Box Press, and the RP 60 White Label. Each cigar boasts a vintage Mexican San Andres wrapper over a core blend of long-filler tobaccos aged for no less than 6 years before being hand-rolled.
RP 60 opened with sweetened cocoa and earth notes that were complemented by fruit and a subtle black pepper note on the retro-hale. This combination remained the foundation for most of the smoke’s duration until about a third into the smoking experience, when a distinct vanilla flavor emerged.
At this point, the strength began to increase at a slightly faster rate, while the body of the cigar maintained its edge throughout. This was an excellent smoke - medium to full bodied and offering some depth of flavor to the palate.
While the ash on this cigar did require some touch-ups along the way, the burn was never in danger of going off the burn path, which I appreciate. The ash was a medium-gray color that wasn’t firm or loose, while the burn rate and temperature were ideal.
