Samsung Un65mu7000 Review
The un65mu7000 is one of Samsung's mid-range 4K HDR TV models that offers a decent range of features and performance at a competitive price. It's a step up from the MU6300 in many ways but doesn't quite reach the level of the MU8000, so we're happy to recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable but good quality HDR TV that can deliver a solid level of home entertainment.
The MU7000's screen is a 65-inch LED-backlit LCD display with a resolution of 3840x2160p. It uses Motion Rate 120 technology to digitally enhance fast-moving images to reduce blur, and supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision, which is an upgrade of the standard HLG HDR format.
Color reproduction is excellent thanks to the wide variety of colors that are available with the HDR10 format and a 10-bit color processor. The MU7000's color performance can also be enhanced via the inclusion of a scaler that's able to deliver good upscaling when playing streaming video or 720p content.
Black uniformity is excellent as well, delivering deep blacks that really make dark scenes look great. The MU7000's native contrast ratio is also high, making this model an especially good choice for anyone who has a dark room or wants to watch movies in this environment.
Motion handling is smooth, although the MU7000's panel refresh rate and backlight manipulated Motion Rate 120 do result in some judder when watching movies that have side-to-side panning shots, particularly those that are 24p or 60i in nature. This isn't something that will impact most people, but it's worth knowing about if you're sensitive to judder in your viewing experience.
