If there’s one thing Sol de Janeiro gets right, it’s scents. The Brazilian beauty brand is renowned for its body care, particularly its scented Cheirosa '62—the signature vanilla, salt, pistachio and caramel fragrance that’s earned more than 3,000 perfect reviews on Sephora. Now, it’s expanding into one of the most important frontiers in beauty: hair. The brand’s first shampoo and conditioner launch, the Brazilian Joia Strengthening + Smoothing Duo, delivers the coveted scent to your locks while also nourishing and smoothing them.
The formulas are enriched with SOL Seal Technology, Brazil nut selenium and buriti oil that nourishes, repairs and fused split ends together, and boosts shine. They’re also free of sulfates (SLS and SLES), parabens, formaldehydes, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan and triclocarban, and are PETA-approved cruelty-free.
The shampoo is a dream, with a thick, buttery consistency that glides through hair and absorbs quickly so that no trace of greasy, sticky residue is left behind. It also lathers beautifully and smells deliciously of the signature vanilla, salt, pistachio fragrance of Cheirosa ‘62 that I love so much. The conditioner is a bit more runnier, so it might not be as good at detangling for those with finer hair, but it’s still hydrating and leaves my tresses silky smooth and smelling wonderful. I’m really looking forward to seeing if the brand expands the collection to include other hair products.
