If you like giant robots in epic space battles, then this is the game for you. Developed by Finland's Dreamloop Games, Stardust Galaxy Warriors takes strong anime inspirations and classic arcade mechanics into a ragingly fun experience.

In each of the game's 10 stages, players take control of a selection of five mechas as they fight off wave after wave of alien fighters and other space baddies. Each mecha comes equipped with its own set of weaponry and combat capabilities. The most common attacks are a regular shot (R2) and sword melee attack (X), but each robot also has its own unique ability which can be activated by pressing the number keys.

Each level of the game consists of three rounds. The first two are just a bunch of normal ship types, but the third and final round is where the real action happens. The levels are punctuated with comical cutscenes, which keep things light-hearted and entertaining inbetween battles.

What's really great about this game is the way it balances that fine line between being a casual and approachable shmup, and intense bullet-hell action. It features a ton of sliders that allow you to tinker with gameplay and create your own challenge, from how much health enemies have to the frequency at which power-ups drop. It's a really nice touch, and helps ensure that Stardust Galaxy Warriors can appeal to gamers of all skill levels.
