sunlu filament dryer review

If you’re a 3D printer enthusiast and have ever experienced problems with damp filament, you know how frustrating it can be. Damp filament can be difficult to print, causing clogging, stringing and layer shift in your prints.

Thankfully, there are some great solutions to these issues that are relatively cheap and easy to use. One is a filament dryer, which heats up the filament and removes the moisture.

The Sunlu FilaDryer S2 is a good choice for this purpose, as it heats up the filament and ensures that all of the moisture is drawn out before printing. It also works well with hygroscopic materials like PETG and PVA, making them much easier to handle.

It’s a simple device with a display that shows the current temperature, target temperature and remaining drying time for each material. You can change the temperature by either pressing left or right buttons within the set temperature menu (SV @C), and you can exit from this screen by holding down the left button for about 3 seconds.

However, the display flickers between the set temperature and the target temperature at an interval of around half a second and is rather annoying to use. It would be better if it didn’t do that and displayed the remaining drying time instead.

The SUNLU filament dryer can be used with all standard 1.75mm and 2.85mm diameter filaments, including PLA Plus and PETG. It can dry the filament evenly and can greatly improve your printing results. It is especially helpful for those who have trouble with sticky materials like ABS and TPU.
