syntorial review

Syntorial is the award-winning synthesis learning tool that teaches you to program patches by ear with a built-in synth. This innovative, fun and educational software by AudibleGenius takes a hands on approach to teaching the concepts of synthesis and allows you to get started right away.

Unlike many other synth tutorials that just show you what the various controls do, and leave it to you to figure out how they work together, Syntorial actually trains your ears to understand sound design by presenting you with 129 interactive challenges in which you must re-create sounds on a built in synth. These challenges start off simple and gradually introduce new controls to prevent you from becoming overwhelmed. Then, they test your knowledge by asking you to program the patch using your ear. You are scored on how well you match the example and then given a hint button to show you what needs to be changed.

Throughout the lessons, you will learn about all of the different features of the synthesizer including oscillators, filters, effects, envelopes and modulation. All of the lessons are arranged into a clear structure that can be applied to any other synthesizer you may encounter. In addition to the core course, you can download expansion packs for Serum, Massive, Sylenth1, Z3TA+ 2, and Minimoog Voyager which will help you extend your synthesis education and build on your existing skills. Whether you are an experienced producer or just starting out, Syntorial is an excellent investment into your production career.
