The Saif Ali Khan-Dimple Kapadia starrer Tandav has landed into trouble for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments. It was released on the OTT platform on Friday. The controversy relates to one specific scene of the show where Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub plays Lord Shiva in the modern world. The video of the same went viral and people objected to it. This prompted the BJP MP to write to the information minister asking for the series be banned.
A First Information Report (FIR) under Sec 295A of IPC, Section 67A of IT Act & Atrocities Act was registered against the director, producer and writer of the show, according to Jagran’s Entertainment Desk. The makers have been asked to appear before a magistrate at Lucknow’s Hazratganj police station for questioning.
Tandav is about the game of politics and power where greed, ambition, love and vulnerability play a big role. It showcases how people use their position to get ahead in life and the lust for power can corrupt even the good ones. It also explores how country politics and youth politics intersect in the present times.
