m5 fairway wood review

After the success of TaylorMade’s Twist Face technology in their drivers, golfers have been calling for it to be added to fairway woods. TaylorMade responded to their request this year with the new M5 Fairway Wood.

The M5 is engineered to reduce side spin and deliver straighter shots from the tee. It is TaylorMade’s first fairway wood to feature Twist Face, which features a revolutionary face curvature with a corrective face angle on off-center hits to reduce side spin and increase accuracy.

In addition to Twist Face, the M5 is equipped with Speed Pocket and a larger 65g movable sole weight that can be moved into one of 12 different positions. This allows the player to set up the club for a fade or draw by changing the amount of heel or toe offset in the head. The movable weight position also creates a seamless sole contour and lowers center of gravity to promote higher launch and reduced spin.

As with most modern fairway woods, the M5 has an adjustable hosel sleeve that allows golfers to manipulate loft and, by extension, face angle. This level of adjustability provides a variety of fitting options for players and helps ensure that the M5 fits well into their bag.

Choosing the right fairway wood is one of the most important decisions you can make to help lower your score. For most golfers, the 5 wood fills a hole in their distance gaps between the driver and 3 wood. That’s why it’s so important to select a model that fills the gap in your swing and offers you plenty of confidence on the course.
