Roaming the Sierra Foothills in California Gold Country during the final days of the Old West, a notorious desperado known as Three Finger Jack searched the rugged wilderness relentlessly for riches. Though no one knows how he lost his name or how he died, his legacy lives on today through this wine, grown in the land where Jack once roved and made to embody the outlaw spirit of his legendary name. This 2016 Three Finger Jack East Side Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon is rugged and structured, just like its namesake.
The winemaker at this small, family-owned winery has crafted a balanced Cabernet Sauvignon that is both smooth and intense. Made with a combination of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petite Sirah, 8% Malbec and 6% Merlot. The blend is aged for some time in French and American oak, and the remainder is stored in stainless steel. The result is a rich and tannic wine that fills a tannic frame with deep and ripe flavors of black cherries, blueberries and dark chocolate.
This is a beautiful bottle of wine from a region that is not typically thought of for Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a solid and very drinkable wine, especially for the price.
